Mike Yoder, WMYL's local Morning Announcer, is a native of the Susquehanna Valley. He grew-up in the small town of Turbotville, graduated from Warrior Run High School, and attended Bloomsburg College (now Bloomsburg University).

Mike states, "My first interest in radio began back in the late 70's when I would listen to "Lou Kolb on the wireless" everyday. When a friend of mine took me on a tour of the very same station in which Lou was working I was hooked. I knew then that radio was what I wanted to do."

"After changing majors in college from business to Mass Communication, I answered an ad for a part-time radio announcer at a station in Lewisburg, Pa (WTGC). Auditioned, and got the job. Not because I had such a wonderful voice, but because I knew how to operate and wasn't afraid of the on-air equipment. I was so nervous my first night "on the air" (May of 1980), that I could barely place the stylus onto the record. However, just like any other job I got used to it and over the next year I learned the basics for being a good radio announcer."

"In July of 1981 I took a job at WLYC in Williamsport, PA. I was initially hired as just the afternoon announcer, but within a few short months was promoted to Program Director and eventually the morning show. My fifteen years at WLYC was a great learning experience for me. New colleagues, new listeners, and new music. WLYC played the Music of Your Life, the adult pop-standards of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Music I knew existed, but music or artists I did not know. It was a real challenge for me, but I grew to love and appreciate this style of music."
