J | As of 01 Oct 06, the Find-A-Vet service has been temporarily suspended due to the deployment of the webmaster. --------------------------- Find-A-Vet The only listings on this page will be Veterans searching for Veterans. Nothing more nothing less. We owe a page just for this cause. So many veterans search the web only to find nothing in their search or a site that wants to charge you for this information. On this site it will be totally free. To begin with you must contact the webmaster to have your listing displayed on this site. If there is an overwhelming response to this it will become a searchable database. It does not matter what type of service you had, (ie: peacetime, era, combat, or what war or conflict you may have served in.) This is for all Veterans of the U.S. and its allies. Information needed to post a Find-A-Vet message: First Name, Last Name, Middle Initial, Nickname To add your message click here. You may also try using the Veterans Coalition "Find-A-Vet form" which will search the database of Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc. and Veterans Coalition National Headquarters. This is a snail mail form. We do request a donation for this search. Find-A-Vet Postings NOTE: Postings are made periodically due to nonavailability of the webmaster. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm seeking the present whereabouts of a former fellow USAF Airman, Charles Howard. He and I were assigned to Craig AFB in 1971, where we both resided with our respective wives in an off-base, low-cost housing project named "NBF Homes."
In early August of 1971 Charles Howard's wife was in the hospital giving birth to their first child. Charles and his wife were born probably around 1950 +/-... and unfortunately I cannot remember her first name, but presently they're (if they're still married?) 53 to 60 years of age. It's my belief that his family (and possibly hers as well) is from somewhere in Alabama.
One night in early August of 1971 while I was working the 11 PM to 7 AM shift on the base (Security Police), someone broke into my housing unit at NBF Homes (by removing the screen from the kitchen window), entered the bedroom where my wife (Judi) and our daughter (Laura, then just 2 years old) were sleeping (in the same bed). The intruder proceeded to rape my wife at knife point, threatening to kill our daughter if she did not cooperate.
Our neighbor, Charles Howard was a primary suspect in this crime, yet for a number of reasons could not be charged with it. The crime went unsolved and to this day is a mystery.
My beloved wife, Judi, passed away from ovarian cancer in 2001, after 33 years of marriage. We never discussed the rape too much as it was very upsetting to her, obviously. It did leave it's emotional scars however.
My belief is that Charles Howard did, in fact rape my wife that night while his wife was in the hospital giving birth to their child. He had a history of other sexual related activities in the Selma, AL area during that time frame as well (sexually harassing phone calls to women).
At this point in time, although there is no chance of re-opening this case, I am only interested in locating Charles Howard and making an attempt to trace his whereabouts throughout the ensuing decades to determine whether there were more cases of rape and sexual phone harassment that may have followed him. Thank You, Ronald Pelleteri

My cousin, SMSGT Stanley E. Crawford (who is now deceased) was stationed with the 408 MMS and the 8 TFW at Ubon, Thailand during 1968. According to his service record he held the position of Munitions Supervisor in January 1968 and then was NCOIC Material Control in February 1968. He had also done a previous tour at Ubon in 1965/66 as a Munitions Specialist. My cousin Stanley began his military service with the United States Air Force in 1948 and retired in 1970. My Canadian born relative SSG Melvin James Wright served in Vietnam from November 1969 to the end of June 1972. He spent some of this time with the 3'rd Bgde of the 1'st Cav. (Prior to volunteering for Vietnam in 1969, he spent time in the Panama Canal Zone. He was also with the 557th Quartermaster Company - Air Delivery in Maintz, Germany from around 1966 - 1968). He was then assigned to Special Forces Thailand in July 1972. Melvin was killed in a sports parachute accident near Lop Buri, Thailand on October 13, 1973 as he drowned in a river/pond. I am also assuming that the “near Lop Buri” would have been the Pawai Airfield. According to Melvin’s military record his last MOS at the time of his death was Section Chief or Senior Rigger for the 1'st Special Forces of the 46th Special Forces Company Thailand. MSG Harry D. Brown was the Special Escort for returning Melvin’s remains back to Danville, Quebec, Canada for burial - Melvin’s home town. Melvin was involved in the following Vietnam War Campaigns....Vietnam Winter-Spring, Sanctuary Campaign, Vietnam Counter Offensive. Melvin won various medals while serving in Vietnam including the Bronze Star, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon w/Device. The following is a quote from a letter I received recently (January 20, 2003) from Melvin’s Senior Commanding Officer, Retired LT. Col. Radtke....”You can rest assured that Melvin was highly thought of by his peers and the command as a whole. We were fortunate to receive the very best the Army had to offer in their personal pipeline of replacements from both Vietnam and the United States.” “I considered myself fortunate to have commanded US Army Special Forces Thailand (USASFT). I was proud of all our troops as I was proud to have served as Melvin’s commander” I am trying to locate anyone who may have known and served with SSG Melvin James Wright. If you did, would you be able to share any of your memories (or a photo) in regards to SSG Wright? If you didn't know SSG Wright, would you know of someone who may have served with him during this time frame from your circle of friends? I am doing personal research on my relative's military service. You can get in touch with me at my email address - [email protected] or my mailing address which is: - P.O. Box 79, Castleton, Ontario, Canada, K0K 1M0 Thank you. Sincerely, Barry Crawford I am seeking three different individuals who served @ Nakhon Phanom between 1972-72. 1st is a then SSgt Bob Carson. Bob went PCS to the Pentagon and from there I lost him. @nd is a Sgt Tommy Johnson from Georgia and finally a SSgt. Gary Harless from Phanrang. Please contact Bill Smith @ [email protected] or call 601-898-1456.

This soldier was shot by another soldier (accidentally). I do not know the name of the soldier who died, but if anyone else does, I would greatly appreciate this information. He was a soldier in the Weapons Platoon. You can contact me at my e-mail address, which is [email protected].
Hello. My name is Joe M. Sanchez. I served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne, at Phan Rang Bay from November 1965 to February 1966. In October, 1965, I had a good friend named Phillip Bush. PFC Bush was hit in the face with an entrenching (shovel) tool by another soldier. This occurred in October 1965 at Cam Ranh Bay. I would like to find Phillip Bush and speak with him again. I was a Specialist (E-4) and I was a Radio Telephone Operator (RTO). PFC Phillip Bush was an infantry rifleman. He was sent to Walter Reed to recover from his attack. If you have any information regarding PFC Phillip Bush, please contact me. My e-mail address is [email protected].
Hi! I am looking for anyone who might have known my dad Elmer J. Nadeau. He wax a 22 year veteran, and was a sargeant, E-7, military specialty was 00f40, not sure what any of that means really, I never got to meet him, he died in 1998 in Tacoma washington. I would so be greatful just to hear about him if you served with him, and if there are any pictures out there, I would be forever greatful...you can email me at "[email protected]" anytime! Thanks!
My name is Albertus "Dutch" VanWyngaarden and I am looking for a gentleman by the name of Stephen Marcachelli (unfortunatley I am unsure of the spelling). He was the Captain of the 1st Cav Aviation in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. I was active from 1970 to 1971. I've thought of him frequently and I'd love to be able to talk to him. Any information would be grately appreciated. My e-mail is [email protected] thanks, Dutch
Thank You,
Ronald Pelleteri

Looking for CPL Greg Judd USMC who served with me in RVN 70-71 at Red Beach with 7TH COMM BN. Greg went back to Madison, Wisconsin and I heard that he may have finished school and went into the Army as an officer. Should be retired from the Army now as well. This might be called finding a Vietnam Vet in reverse. I am writing for a very sick Vietnam Veteran by the name of Guy CLAVETTE. If any living Vietnam Vet recognizes the name, his wife would welcome hearing from him. Guy is still severely traumatized since his service in Phu Bai South Vietnam. He has difficulty with his memory but he does recall a severe battle in Phu Bai (Fu Bai). Perhaps the following details will help you understand Guy's predicament. His wife, poorly able to write, wrote to the VA in March of 2004 telling them she had filed a claim for her husband. This concerned a service connected disability with the VA, the claim was denied for PTSD because his dates of service didn't match up with the incidents stated in his Stressor Letter in support that claim. Guy was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division, FLC Supply Co., located at Phu Bai South Vietnam. He was assigned there from May 10, 1968 to May 26.1969. They went through a mortar and rocket attack during the night of 5/10/68, from midnight to dawn on the following day, 5/11/68. They went through constant attacks the entire time he was there. One night, his company was informed that they were going to be hit that night. The tanks started rolling in and the next morning, the tank that had been parked next to Guy left first and about 150 feet from his fox hole the tank ran over a mine and blew up. Needless to say all the guys were dead. After all this time and as the stress continues to take its toll on him, he can't recall further exact dates. He remembers storing dead bodies in coolers until they could be picked up and taken to the rear area. If you could help him and his poor family in any way, they would be very thankful. His wife, as I said is not gifted in written communications. She is far better in her verbal skills. Guy is looking for information on any and all incidents for that 12 month period, (May 10/68 May 26/69) in hope of finding his name among the rosters, unit logs, morning reports, vets who served with him etc. Also very helpful would be a roster of personnel assigned at Phu Bai during that period. In short anything that would confirm Guy was there at that time period, would give the necessary testimony to his stress letter information. Here are both of our email addresses: [email protected] Please feel free to contact either one of us or both. Thank you in advance. 20 Sep 05 Looking for all members of the 687 landclears engineers 35 eng. group 18 eng bat. we need to find all the guys from the company if that is ok with all of you . we had are first reunion in 36 yrs last month on Labor Day. Michael Kafka [email protected] 16 Jul 05 Hello my name is Kristina Micali and one day hopefully I will find the man who is my father. I have been tortured by this question all my life. Today I am 32 and as of yet have never spoken to, seen a picture of , nor have I even known his last name. Supposing if I did this search would be much easier than it has been. Even though I have only been actively networking and digging for more clues into the identity of this mystery man for 10 years, I have always had the most painful yearning to know him all of my life. But the answers to the question is always the same. Either “well its been so long I don’t remember, I just don’t know” or, “ I’m sorry but you’ll need more information than that, mainly a last name.” but I say that I don’t have it and I still search. Here is all that I do know. The story starts in 1971 and we are still in the midst of the Vietnam War. We are at Treasure Island Naval Station in Alameda Ca. under the command of Officer Dozier. I have been unsuccessful in obtaining the first name of Officer Dozier. My fathers first name is Richard, Called “Richie” for short. At that time he was stationed in the marine barracks. His duties, assignments, or work details are unknown. The name of his ship, if any, is also unknown. My Mother, who’s maiden name is Carol Ann Micali, was 15 years old at the time. She had job on the base babysitting two young boys for some family friends, Tony and Linda Garcia. She met Richard there (along with two of his friends who’s names are also unknown) and a short and quiet relationship ensued, as her father was a bit of a nasty alcoholic Navy man who was rather abusive to her. Her relationship with Richard was kept a secret, however short. We are now in April of 1971. Carol and Richard plan to meet in my mothers town of residence, Calistoga California. They spend the night at the Wayward Motel, this day is of great importance because it was Richards 21st birthday. This day was on or within 2 days (either way) of April 17th 1971, which would put his D.O.B. at April 17th 1950 (again on or about the 17th) . After the secret was out that my mom was seeing this Naval Enlisted man on the base, and pregnant, my grand father went to the base to have words with Richards commanding officer. During this meeting Richard was told he was to marry Carol. My grandfather would not permit Carol to sit in, and she was made to sit outside. Afterward , Carol only 15 and feeling ashamed of her situation, felt it was the best thing to do to decline a shotgun marriage proposal. Not knowing the impact this would have on the life of his granddaughter , my grandfather shortly there after returned to the naval base and had it fixed so that Carol would not be contacted by Richie any more. On many occasions during her pregnancy various family members reported seeing him follow her while she shopped . And even on one or two occasions Carol made attempts to find him on the base to no avail. It had been fixed. The rest is history. So in the end my search has left me these clues and broken bits of information. I will now list them for you. His first name is Richard ( last name unknown) He is an enlisted Naval man in 1971 Stationed at Treasure Island Naval Station (or Treasure Island Naval Shipyard ) Alameda, California Date of Birth is on April !7th 1950 (or within 2 days either way) He is of Italian / Spanish decent Standing approximately 5’ 5” tall (fairly short) 180 to 200+ lbs ( this one is a pure guess, but how big or fat could he be) Dark brown Italian hair, big green eyes and a muscular build. He said he had family in Florida, and may have even been born there (once during a conversation with my mom he phoned his mother in Florida to tell her he was to be a father) He did mention possibly being shipped out later that year in 1971 or the following year being 1972 He was also under the command of Officer Dozier. ( first name is also unknown, as if this couldn’t get any harder) He was also living on the base in the Marine Barracks. So there it is folks, that’s all I know in a nutshell. If there’s any additions you have, pertinent information about the base at the time, or absolutely ANYTHING AT ALL YOU THINK COULD HELP PLEASE Contact me Kristina Lynn Micali Email Address is [email protected] 16 Jul 05 Daniel Saenz Army, Company D, 1st Battalion, 7th Calvary 1970-1971 Vietnam I'm looking for anyone who served with my father-in-law.
